TIPS TO KEEP MAINTAINED & SANE WHILE YOU’RE CARRYING ON
Under these unknown times, anxiety levels are high so I’ve come up with some suggestions to calm spiraling minds and encourage a sense of serenity and routine. I’m pretty optimistic so I tend to look at the brighter side of a bad situation because from my life experiences, you have to!
Not going out allows you to take advantage of the things that you normally don’t have the time to do like, self-care. I know for a fact that there are so many women out there that just don’t have the time to be bothered with so many steps in a self-care routine. But there’s no better time than now to get into the groove of self-care.
Self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can be a series of small, deliberate steps that you take to prioritize your own needs and treat yourself.
Simplified and Manageable Tips:
There are many benefits to starting every day with hot water and lemon according to (where was quote pulled) “It’s really good to ‘alkalize’ your system first thing upon waking. Have warm or hot water with a little bit of lemon which, although it might seem counterintuitive (lemon being citric), helps to up your body’s pH levels and support your health and wellbeing”. And of course, don’t forget to drink water! Staying hydrated is essential so fill up your favorite carafe or hydro flask and make sure you sip it throughout the day.
Health Hack: For added healing properties incorporate fresh, small chunks of ginger and/or turmeric root or 1 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar to clean and detox your body.
Take Multivitamins
It’s important to take a daily multivitamin to provide your body with the proper nutrients for reproduction, maintenance, growth, and regulation of bodily processes. Check out two of my favorite multivitamins below:
Get Out The House!
Being cooped up in the house all day every day isn’t healthy so throw the windows open, let the light stream in, the fresh air circulate and enjoy the silence. Have a Balcony? If it’s bright and sunny outside, grab a chair and face the sun for about 20mins. Soak in that Vitamin D, but don’t forget to slap on some SPF 30! Remember the sun is a natural mood booster.
Create a Routine
Having a routine can make you feel less unorganized and chaotic in the mind. A daily routine will have you feeling good about yourself and make you feel more productive throughout the day. A relaxing exercise is a great task to incorporate into your daily routine. Meditation, chanting, yoga…pick your poison the choice is yours but if you’re looking for a chant I would suggest the Morning Gongyo chant on youtube. Click Here
If you’re into a more difficult workout there are plenty of fitness routines on Youtube and if your not a fan of working out at all then throw some of your favorite music on and bust a move. It’s important for you to keep your body moving to maintain the circulation of blood flow.
Staying calm throughout the day is not only vital to your mental health but helps you get through your daily routine more seamlessly. Burning a candle or incense of your favorite scent sets a calm mood in your home. Teas are also a great way to set off your day with relaxation, Chamomile Tea is known for its accumulative calming effects but other teas like Sleepy Time Tea, Green Tea, Ginger infused tea, and Jasmine tea all have calming properties.
While it may be difficult, with everybody working from home and what not it is very important that you limit your daily screen time. Give your eyes and brain a rest from the constant blue light that emits from your cell phone and computer. Even if it’s just a 15min rest you can prevent from getting headaches and feeling fatigued.
Skincare! Skincare! Skincare!
Being in quarantine is obviously making everybody stressed out and with stress comes breakouts. So take advantage of the extra time we have indoors to focus on the largest organ on your body, your skin. Now I’m not saying you have to have an extensive routine but at the bare minimum, you should at least have a cleanser and moisturizer.
Netflix & Chill
Netflix is hot, hot, hot with their content. So kick back relax and watch a movie or binge-watch an entire series there’s loads of good content on Netflix to fill up your time. I know it’s been a lifesaver for me.
I know these are very stressful times but I’m hoping my tips will shed a little light on how to remain sane during the quarantine.
XO,
